Growing up, my world revolved around the thrill of the chase, the smell of fresh cardboard, and the bond between a father and son. My dad, Neil Brian Gillespie, was an avid sports card collector. Some of my earliest memories are of us sitting at the kitchen table, sorting through stacks of baseball, basketball, and football cards. He taught me how to read player stats, how to spot rare cards, and how to appreciate the history of the games we loved. Those cards weren't just cardboard to us; they were a shared language and a source of pure inspiration.

As I grew older, life naturally got busier. My career, and daily responsibilities took over. My collection was packed away into boxes, eventually gathering dust in the back of a closet. For many years, the hobby became a distant memory. I rarely thought about sports cards, completely caught up in the hustle of adulthood.

Everything changed in 2021 when my father passed away...

Beyond being an incredible dad and a passionate collector, he was a proud Vietnam veteran who approached life with dedication and resilience. While sorting through his belongings, I uncovered his old collection—and the ones we had built together. Holding those cards again brought back a flood of memories and a profound connection to his spirit. In the midst of grief, I found comfort in the hobby he loved so much. I started buying, and studying the market, quickly realizing that my childhood passion had never truly left me.

What began as a way to honor my father's memory and heal from a devastating loss rapidly evolved. The deeper I got back into the hobby, the more I realized I wanted to share this passion with others. Today, that rekindled interest has transformed from a personal comfort into a full-fledged business.  

I proudly named this store NBG Vintage, using his initials—Neil Brian Gillespie—as a permanent tribute to his life, his service, and his impact on me.
